The Emotional Body
The Emotional Body holds the profound wisdom of the heart. It helps us interpret the world around us in terms of what we truly value in our relationship to ourselves and to others. It is this aspect of ourselves that guides us in deciding where to go for feelings of safety, security, connectedness, love, joy, purpose and intimacy. It tells us through the language of feeling states what is worth our time, effort and attention from the perspective of fulfillment, attachment and connection. Because the Emotional Body speaks in the language of connectivity it is related to the ways we allow ourselves to be open and vulnerable to others. The Emotional Body gives life its passion, meaning and feelings of belonging.
Most of the time we experience the power of the Emotional Body when we fall in love or otherwise connect deeply and intimately with another. Likewise, when we are suddenly disconnected or the emotional bond is broke unexpectedly, we can experience an emotional hurt or wounding. When this happens we often find ourselves closing down or closing off access to the Emotional Body in an attempt to not feel the full impact of the loss. If we do not properly process and clear the wounded emotions it may leave us unable to fully open again. We may find ourselves guarded and unable to enjoy many aspects of a full life, including experiences of great joy, great pleasure and deeply satisfying intimate relationships.
