The Physical Body
The Physical Body is made up of all the bones, tissues, fluids, chemicals and energy systems that create our physical form. The physical form is the living structure in which the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a person make their home. The Physical Body is the place where the emotions, intellect and spirit come to be expressed into the world. It is the place where what is inside comes to interact with what is outside.
The interaction between the Physical Body and the other aspects of an individual are so common that they often go completely unnoticed until imbalances occur. It is often only after an intense fight with a loved one, or a series of stress-filled days, that we notice our aching shoulders, stiff necks, clenched jaws or sore and angry backs. It is only when our normal coping strategies fail to soothe and give way to addictions, compulsions or neurotic behaviors, that we take notice that something is definitely out of balance. When this occurs we can oftentimes trace our symptoms back to prolonged stress, unprocessed traumas, blocked emotions, and unexpressed soul expressions that are stuck in the physical form.
Where Holistic Psychotherapy differs from most other types of somatic psychotherapy is that it seeks the wisdom of the individual’s Four Bodies to form a balanced and truly healing long-term solution. The work I offer integrates the information given by the body about how it holds stress patterns, tensions, memories, and traumas, and begins a path of re-balancing. Through the process of coming into a deeper relationship with the body, one is able hear one’s own body-wisdom, heal the past, and develop a comprehensive skill-set to handle life’s challenges more easily.
