The Four Bodies Approach
There are four main aspects of an individual that work together to guide them along the path of life. These aspects are the Physical Body, the Emotional Body, the Mental Body, and the Spiritual Body. Each body holds a profound wealth of wisdom and information that is intended to be drawn upon in order to keep the individual balanced, oriented and ready to engage the world. Much like points on a compass are used to gain one’s bearings, each person has an inner-compass consisting of The Four Bodies that points the way towards their optimum healthy functioning. As we go through the inevitable ups and downs of life, our access to the wisdom of The Four Bodies is sometimes diminished, blocked or restricted. Influences like traumas, heart-breaks, addictions, abuse, abandonment, attachment problems, physical or mental illness, soul-loss, and unhealthy patterns of behavior, shift us from functioning at our best. Such destabilizing factors often have lingering impact on the individual, their relationships, and the way they experience the world.
Four Bodies Therapy is designed to address each aspect of the individual’s life and bring about stabilization, healing and restorative balance. This approach seeks to bring impediments into awareness, clear traumas and unhealthy behavioral patterns, build new coping skills, increase resiliency, and recalibrate one’s internal compass. This is a collaborative process between clients and the therapist, working together step-by-step, to build the client’s capacity to engage their world more fully, more richly, and more authentically. The goal of the Four Bodies approach is to help the individual or couple gain a fuller understanding of where they have come from, where they stand, what they stand for, and how they truly want to live their lives.
